“Concert in the Wild” presents a very special one on Saturday, June 12th, 2021
Chamber music concert.
The fascinating program spans an arc from the delicate music of the baroque to classical music
on neo-romanticism and contemporary classical music with works by Abel, Bach, Chausson, Danielpour, Delibes,
Previn and Crumb. A thematic focus can be found in the title of George Crumbs
Piano masterpiece "Macrocosm". In every work in the program you will find topics from which one
could say that they articulate the connectedness, the music about time, culture, language and space
away.
Our wonderful musicians come from some of the most renowned ensembles in Berlin and all over
Germany. The cellist Katharina Feltz and the double bass player Jesper Ulfenstedt are both active
Soloists, chamber musicians and members of the orchestra of the Komische Oper Berlin. The pianist Ya-ou Xie
works as a concert pianist, conductor and one of the founding members of "Berlin PianoPercussion"
http://berlinpianopercussion.com. Spinto soprano Leah Gordon has won numerous awards for her song-
and opera interpretations in many international opera houses and concert halls. She is happy
set out to sing Elisabeth in "Tannhäuser", which will be one of her first appearances after the pandemic
becomes. Mezzo / Contralto Jennifer Arnold is also an internationally celebrated stage veteran of opera,
Lied and chamber repertoires. She will perform the song cycle "Sweet Talk" by Richard Danielpour,
which she premiered with Yo-Yo Ma and later sang for President Clinton when she was a student
Conservatory of Music in New York City, NY.
The location of the concert is the beautiful garden of a large villa in Berlin Westend. The owner has it
Kindly allowed to use this room for open air concerts. For that very special one

Jennifer Arnold
Mezzo-soprano
A graduate student at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City with a Masters degree in Music, she received the Birgit Nilsson Award Scholarship, a full scholarship, for the duration of her Masters degree and had the privilege of working with Yo-Yo Ma at the Kennedy Center Library to appear for former President Bill Clinton.
In 2003 she was nominated alongside Anna Netrebko by the international opera magazine Opernwelt as singer of the year for her portrayal of Carmen under the direction of Johannes Felsenstein.
Leah Gordon

Absolvierte an der „Guildhall School of Music and
Drama“ in London ihren „Master of Music mit Auszeichnung“. Gewann internationale Preise bei Wettbewerben wie "Magda Olivero", "Beppe de Tomasi" eine besondere Ehrung war auch der erste Preis beim „Concorso Internazionale Elsa Respighi Liriche da camera ottonovecento Italiano”, der sich im Besonderen um die Verbreitung des italienischen
Kunstlieds bemüh. Als erfahrene Liedinterpretin hat Leah Gordon Konzerte in vielen
internationalen Konzertbühnen gegeben, darunter so berühmte wie dem Teatro Filarmonico in
Verona. Sie ist auf zahlreichen deutschen Bühnen aufgetreten und war wiederkehrender Gast auf
dem Opernfestival in Glyndebourne und an der Bayerischen Staatsoper in München.
Katharina Feltz

Seit 30 Jahren festes Mitglied im Orchester der komischen Oper und auch anderen Kammermusik Gruppen.
Sie begann ihre Chello Kariere schon mit 9 Jahren und verfeinert ihr Talent seither. Und ist auch bemüht neuen Talenten die Möglichkeit zu geben von ihrem umfangreichen Wissen zu profiteiern und sie aus zu bilden. Nicht nur mit klassischen Stücken, sondern auch neueren Stücken.
Jesper Ulfenstedt
Kontrabass
Jesper Ulfenstedt wurde in Eskilstuna/Schweden geboren. Nach Studien in Stockholm und London schlossen sich zahlreiche Engagements in verschiedenen Orchestern an, u. a. beim London Symphony Orchestra, der English National Opera sowie der Königlichen Dänischen Oper. Feste Positionen hielt er im BBC Philharmonic Orchestra (2000-01), Konzerthausorchester Berlin (2001-02), Münchner Philharmoniker (2003-09) und im Orchester der Komischen Oper Berlin, wo er seit 2010 eine neue Herausforderung als Stv. Solo-Bassist gefunden hat. Regelmäßige Auftritte als Kammermusiker und Solist im In- und Ausland runden seine Tätigkeit ab.
Ya-ou Xie
Pianistin /Kayserburg Künstler
"Ya-ou Xie versteht es, eine magische, betörende Aura zu erzeugen . ." kommentierte die französische Zeitschrift "Lettre du Musicien" über das Pianospiel von Ya-ou Xie. Die in Guiyang im Südwesten Chinas geborene Pianistin und Dirigentin konzertierte bereits vor internationalem Publikum in Musikzentren wie der Berliner Philharmonie, der Hamburger Elbphilharmonie, der Cité de la Musique in Paris, dem Hong Kong Art Centre und der Beijing Concert Hall. Als Solistin ist sie mit großen Orchestern aufgetreten, darunter das China National Symphony Orchestra, das NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester. Sie ist Gast bei zahlreichen Festivals, u.a. bei der Gaudeamus Music Week in Amsterdam, der MaerzMusik Berlin und dem Beijing New Music Festival.
